All Associate degree majors are required to fulfill a one-quarter externship prior to graduation. An externship program is an off-site assignment at a business that correlates with a student's specific Associate degree. For example, OBC works with companies to offer everything from office support externships to medical coding externships.
Medical Assisting majors at Ohio Business College participate in a 180-hour externship that provides an opportunity for the student to gain experience working in their field under the combined supervision and evaluation of both a cooperating local medical facility and Ohio Business College.
Students gain 108 hours of actual dental assisting experience in a dental facility, which is vital to their career preparation. Students are placed in a setting that allows them to view, as well as apply, many of the skills they have gained throughout the program. Students will be evaluated by the site and graded for competency in several areas, such as appearance, initiative, dependability, adaptability, organization of work and other categories. You will handle real issues and work on real assignments while impacting the lives of the people involved.
